Hand-crafted in the late 19th century, this grand copper hearth bucket features a hand-hammered brass-brazed seam and heavy forged iron ear brackets. Carried through decades of daily domestic life, its substantial copper body carries a rich verdigris patina (green in pictures) along the base and a sturdy iron bail handle. Perfect as a floor-standing hearth accent to hold firewood, tucked by an entryway for umbrellas, or styled with dried branches in a cozy living room nook.

Condition Notes:

  • Features authentic verdigris oxidation along the interior and exterior base, a brass-brazed side seam, and light rust on the forged iron handle; the heavy copper vessel body remains completely solid and leak-free.
  • Striking cluster of historic heat-patina spots on one side.
  • Displays a breathtaking, organic spectrum along the base, seen in photos where brilliant turquoise malachite blooms (verdigris) blend with scorched terracotta embers and deep plum charcoal tones, creating a true painterly work of time.

Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 14.75" Dia (15" W handle to handle) x 9" H (17" H with handle upright)
  • Origin/Era: 1870s-1985 (American or English Folk Utilitarian)
