About Us

The Common Place, founded by Shelby Hickman in 2023, was born from a love of antiques, timeless design, and storytelling. What began as weekend estate sale adventures with her husband, Bobbie, has grown into a curated destination for antique and vintage furniture that blends seamlessly with contemporary living.

Shelby’s passion for antiques traces back to summers spent with her grandparents, traveling across the Midwest and flipping through her grandma's home design magazines. Today, that same sense of history guides The Common Place’s mission: to honor the craftsmanship and stories behind each piece while helping others create homes filled with warmth, character, and timeless style.

With a commitment to quality, sustainability, and education of antiques, The Common Place showcases one-of-a-kind treasures that invite new life and new stories. From heirloom china to European-sourced antiques, every piece is chosen to inspire a home that feels both personal and enduring to you.

Shop our finds online, or in-store at The Cotton Shed Vintage Market located in Bryant, AR. Booth PS01 (first booth on your right after exiting the front showroom).

Meet Shelby

Hi there! I'm so glad you've stumbled into our cozy corner of antiques. When I'm not sourcing our next antique and vintage haul with my husband, Bobbie - you can find me binge reading a new "romantansy" book. My favorite colors to design with are the ones most commonly found in nature: green, blue, and brown. I love to travel and can't wait to see where my passion for antiques takes us across Europe.

Thank you so much for supporting our small business dream and welcoming antiques full of hisotry into your home!
